This Year’s Workshops:

Bubbles, Horn Music, Juggling, Gymnastics/Ribbon Dancing, Clowning, Costume Design, Stilt Walking, Mask Making.  Possibility of making a float for the parade.

Performance/parade info:

All children are encouraged to march in the parade for the kick off of Tsunami on the Square.  We will have 5-10 minutes to present on the Tsunami Stage right after the parade.  We need 16 scarf jugglers (any age), at least 5 (but more would be better) ribbon dancers (any age), jugglers if possible who can juggle three balls painted as fish, 5-10 clowns, 10-15 horn musicians and 6 stilt walkers who have at least one, if not two years experience.   Everyone who wants can have a part but please be flexible so we fill the needs of the presentation.  Parts will be determined in camp from interested campers who take the appropriate workshops.  Preference will be given to campers who can attend the full camp and rehearsals.    The performance will be over by approx. 1:00 pm and parents should pick up their children at our meet up spot on Cortez St. and not on the square in the middle of the Tsunami crowd.

Any Circus Camp children who wish to volunteer at the festival throughout the day on June 14th are encouraged to do so.  Tsunami could use help selling programs and water, with the added ambience of having children in costume and even on stilts.  There will be a volunteer booth where children wishing to help may go and check-in.  We’re hoping that our six stilt-walking starfish for the presentation (three boys and three girls) will stay and volunteer throughout the day.  The theme for this year’s Tsunami on the Square is “Star Fishing”.

Local media may be present at Circus Camp and the parade and performance.  There is a possibility of filming the performance for a local sports break show that airs on ESPN 2.  Please let us know on the first day of camp if your child should not be photographed.

Donations of Time and Money are gratefully put to good use at Circus Camp!

The cost per child at child Circus Camp is about $20.00/day.  The fee is $10.00/day.  The majority of funding comes from grants that Circus Camp volunteers apply for and receive.  We want to insure that all children have a chance to participate.  If you have a donation to make, it would cover the cost for your own child, someone less fortunate than your own and ease the work load of our faithful volunteers.  It would also enable Circus Camp to buy quality equipment and hire the best and most experienced teachers.  Please consider giving what you can to make this experience truly special and self-supporting.  The easiest method of giving is to write the enrollment fee check with your donation added on.
