Flourish Before the Flood: 2012
Dancing Earth: Journey to the Depths of the Human Spirit
Flourish Before the Flood is a site-specific performance that is held the Thursday before the main Tsunami festival. Typically performed in an outdoor, natural setting, Flourish creates a sense of wonder and magic that must be experienced to be fully appreciated. It is truly Tsunami’s hidden gem.
The 2012 Flourish performance, Dancing Earth, will feature visiting Tucson performing and visual artist Jodi Netzer. This award winning performer invites Flourish attendees to “Take a journey, under a bridge and down a path of watery wonders in the Granite Creek Park watershed…meet curious and mystical muses along the way.”
In a twist on the traditional Flourish Before the Flood performance, Netzer will also be teaching workshops on Butoh dance and physical theater. All skill levels are welcome, and workshop participants will be invited to perform at the Flourish performance.
